هذه رسالة نفيسة للعلامة الحافظ عبدالغني المقدسي – رحمه الله – جمع فيها مجمل سيرة النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ، وما يتعلق بشمائله ومعجزاته وصفته الخَلقية والخُلُقية وغير ذلك ، معتمداً في ذلك صحيح النقول ، ومنتهجاً الإيجاز في القول .
ثم ألحق بذلك لمحات من سيرة العشرة المبشرين بالجنة ، ذكر فيها اسم كل واحد منهم ، ونسبه ، وشيئاً من فضله ، وذكر والديه وما بلغ من العمر وتاريخ موته .
وقد تولى شرح هذا الكتاب عبدالكريم بن عبدالنور بن منير الحلبي في مؤلف أسماه ” المورد العذب الهني في كلام على سيرة عبدالغني ” كما في كشف الظنون .
ويغلب على ظن المحقق أن للحافظ عبدالغني المقدسي – رحمه الله – كتاباً موسعاً في السيرة غير هذا المختصر ، فبعض من ترجم له يذكر من مؤلفاته [كتاباً] في السيرة ، ويقول : مجلد ضخم ، أو نحو ذلك .
كما أن الحافظ ابن كثير يعزو للحافظ عبدالغني وربما تعقبه في ” البداية والنهاية ” وهذا الذي يذكره ابن كثير غير موجود في المختصر مما يدل على أنه يعزو لكتاب كبير في السيرة للحافظ عبدالغني المقدسي – رحمه الله – والله أعلم .

ʿAbdu l-Ghanī al-Maqdsī sortit un jour avec ses compagnons et ils s’arrêtèrent à proximité d’un monastère. Le shaykh s’assit au bord d’une rivière tandis que l’un de ses compagnons se dirigea vers ce monastère et y frappa à la porte. Un moine apparut et lui demanda :
« Quelle est ta religion ?
– Je suis musulman, répondit-il.
– Quelle personne suis-tu ?
– Muẖammad, le Messager d’Allah – صلى الله عليه وسلم -. »
Le moine désira ensuite connaître la généalogie du Prophète – صلى الله عليه وسلم – et sa description mais l’homme n’en avait aucune connaissance il refusa alors de l’honorer comme il était coutume de le faire envers les invités.
Le compagnon retourna auprès du shaykh et lui rapporta sa discussion avec le moine.ʿAbdu l-Ghanī al-Maqdsī lui mentionna des informations concernant la généalogie et les attitudes du Prophète – صلى الله عليه وسلم – , puis l’homme alla en informer le moine. Ce dernier lui objecta cependant : « Cette science ne provient pas de toi. Elle est plutôt du shaykh assis au bord de la rivière ».
Le moine avait en effet aperçu le shaykh et son aspect lui avait plu. Il partit donc à sa rencontre et le shaykh lui décrivit de façon détaillée notre Prophète et les miracles qu’il apporta. Sur ces paroles, le moine décida d’embrasser l’islam et sa pratique fut excellente.
Le shaykh ʿAbdu l-Ghanī – رحمه الله – dicta suite à cet événement une biographie résumée du noble Prophète – صلى الله عليه وسلم – à laquelle il ajouta celles des dix Compagnons promis au Paradis.
Il s’agit d’un livre référence, concis et précis à la fois, que les savants continuent d’enseigner de nos jours et que les étudiants en science mémorisent par cœur, se constituant ainsi une base solide dans l’apprentissage de la vie du plus illustre et émérite des hommes !
